Nichicon

Since Nichicon's inception in 1950, Nichicon has focused on the development, manufacture and sale of the capacitors, aluminum electrolytic capacitors and other capacitors essential to a broad range of electronics manufacturers. Today, the importance of electronics is growing not only for industry but for many electronics manufacturers as well. Demands placed on capacitor, aluminum electrolytic capacitor are becoming even more diverse.

Nichicon is dedicated to creating all the capacitors or aluminum electrolytic capacitors what you need. Nichicon will go beyond technology and quality to earn high marks from customers in every possible way. Nichicon will also be a company that is kind to people and the environment. Nichicon ask for your support and understanding as Nichicon strives to fulfill these ambitious goals. Nichicon dedicates ourselves to creating valued capacitors or other products that will contribute to a greater future for the world. Nichicon strives to attain a better global environment, to live up to Nichicon's social responsibilities and to diligently work to exceed the expectations of our customers. Nichicon aims to maximize our corporate value by the way of think and work.

To satisfy customers, Nichicon operates a global network with bases in Japan, Asia, the Americas and Europe. Combining this network with a firm commitment to putting the customer first has made Nichicon a trusted name the world over. Nichicon emphasizes beefing up and speeding up Nichicon's systems for new capacitor, aluminum electrolytic capacitor or others development as a major management task. With our own original technology, Nichicon is striving to develop products like capacitor, aluminum electrolytic capacitor that are the first of their kind in Japan and worldwide. Nichicon has set up research and development systems for each class of products, and Nichicon is devoting our energy to early implementation and production of new technologies. Nichicon produces results one after another, in fields such as development of capacitor, aluminum electrolytic capacitor and others. Nichicon is pushing past the lower limits of ESR in elaborate electrolyte formation. Nichicon is making advances in research and development with the objective of further miniaturization. Nichicon is working on development of Nichicon's own technologies for more elaborate electrolyte formation. Nichicon is advancing our research on materials to improve the performance of elements. Nichicon is conducting research on changing the electrical characteristics of thermistors through material composition, and Nichicon is making efforts to develop the yield rates of high performance elements, based on the results of this research. Nichicon plans to continue examining the forming, with the object of further improving performance. Nichicon is making progress in the production of higher capacitance types. Nichicon is involved in research to further bring out the characteristics of capacitors and aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

Nichicon is aiming for early production of the high-capacitance type. At the same time, Nichicon is also making efforts as regards application development, making efforts to expand the range of suitable applications, while ensuring a certain degree of freedom in mounting. Standing behind Nichicon's world-renowned quality are the rigorous production management systems formulated by each Nichicon production facility. This "zero defect" stance was critical to Nichicon's ability to meet global quality assurance standards.

In 1996, Nichicon announced the establishment of an environmental management system, with the goal of achieving symbiosis with nature, and has been proceeding with efforts toward environmental protection in all aspects of its business activities. At present, 16 of our domestic and overseas manufacturing facilities have obtained ISO 14001 certification for their environmental management systems. All facilities in the entire group are striving to provide products and technologies that show concern for the environment.

To use nichicon product correctly and safety, please read "application guidelines" very carefully. the products are designed and manufactured chiefly for general electronic appliances. in case that you are going to apply them for medical equipment, aircraft / space equipment, or the same kind that requires high safety, you are requested to confirm their adaptation before the use. prior to ordering a product, please obtain a copy of specification from nichicon and use the specification as a basis when designing equipment and incorporating our product. nichicon admits no liability for equipment problems due to the lack of product specifications being confirmed. also, please be sure to perform all necessary unit level evaluation testing to avoid malfunctions that could be unforeseeable during component level testing alone.

Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors: Nichicon is striving for dielectric materials that provide still larger capacitance. With the goal of further higher dielectric constant of electrode foils, which can be called the heart of aluminum electrolytic capacitors, Nichicon is searching for electrode foil materials. Nichicon are also examining possible electrochemical treatments (etching, formation) from various angles, for the purpose of expanding surface area.

Film Capacitors: Nichicon is striving to further miniaturization, while improving stability and reliability. Nichicon is making advances in development of thinner films, through higher conductivity, with the aim of miniaturization to allow higher mounting density . Nichicon is also tackling development of miniaturized capacitors for power source and capacitors with safety mechanism for improved safety and reliability, which will meet overseas safety standards.

ISO 9000 Series Certification: Head office, domestic sales division and a total of 18 Nichicon production facilities in Japan and overseas have met ISO9000 standards for quality assurance systems.
ISO/TS 16949 Certification: ISO/TS 16949 was established by adding the requirements for European standards, VDA 6.1 (German), EAQF (French) and AVSQ (Italian), to the base of the QS-9000 parts procurement standard of the Big Three US automakers (GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler). The purpose of the standard is for automobile manufacturers to ensure high quality and low cost by simply applying this common standard on parts procurement. Nagano Factory and five other domestic factories have acquired the certification.

Storage type solar power system converts solar energy into electricity, which it stores for later use. It employs energy storage banks with one of the largest capacities in the world today (8 MJ). These banks employ electric double layer capacitors developed by Nichicon and this system is the first of their type. The total heat exchanger reduces the volume of external air that must be introduced into the system and boosts operating efficiency by collecting waste heat produced by the air conditioning system. Ice thermal storage system makes ice at night, when electricity charger are lower, and uses the ice during the day as coolant for the air conditioning equipment. The result is increased cooling efficiency with reduced use of electricity. The use of low-power fluorescent lamps, which disperse light and are easy on the eyes, and high-efficiency lighting fixtures helps keep power consumption down. A "double-skin" structure helps to conserve energy while ensuring comfort in areas near windows. Air layers and roll-up screens effectively block heat and dampen noise. Natural ventilation windows can be opened in the spring and autumn, when the air is cool. The use of natural ventilation is another way to reduce energy consumption from air conditioning. Lighting inside the office is controlled using sensors that track ambient light levels. Power consumption is lowered by reducing artificial lighting when natural light is sufficient. The roof of the headquarters building is landscaped with turf and shrubs. This reduces the air conditioning load due to sunlight and helps relieve the urban "heat island" effect. The entrance area is in a stairwell style with an open and bright feel. It greets visitors with a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. In the gallery, artistic renderings of sea creatures, created using capacitors, are on display. Nichicon archives contain exhibits on subjects such as the history of Nichicon, Nichicon's global network, environmental preservation, and advanced technology. Nichicon products are also on display.
